Hi! I’m Mitushi. I hold a M.Sc. in Counseling Psychology from Bangalore North University. And I’m also training in transactional analysis to be a psychotherapist, from SAATA.

My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic, that is it blends in elements of narrative work along with techniques of solution focused brief therapy, Mindfulness based approach, gestalt exercises and humanistic stance.

During therapy work, my focus is on building the relationship with my client. I believe that on the basis of the relationship the growth follows automatically, and for the purpose of this the techniques and theories can take a backseat. Because when the clients have a trusting and safe space with the therapist, the healing happens.

My work population majorly consists of adolescents and young adults with concerns ranging from academic issues, peer pressure, self esteem and self confidence issues, lack of assertiveness relationship issues, disputes in family among members, social anxiety, personality improvement, as well as past trauma. And I’ve worked with just as many schools of thoughts, because all throughout the work experience, I was also being introduced to new therapies and theories. Beginning with understanding psychoanalysis to object relations, the journey of working with clients using operant conditioning to using ACT metaphors, falling in love with readings of Yalom, Rogers, Michael White, Bowens and Eric Berne, learning and unlearning certain ways or working to determining my own personal style. Currently I use mix or narrative ideas, conceptualize in TA concepts, ACT metaphors and SFBT questions.
